Expanding Your Professional Network
Relationships matter in business. The strength of your relationships with your customers, vendors, partners and employees directly impacts the success of your business.
Unlike some of their predecessors, today’s business owners truly recognize the importance of relationship building and networking. Therefore, they send their employees to trade shows and conventions. They make their contact information readily available on their Web sites. And, they showcase information about themselves on professional networking Web sites.
Professional networking sites make it easy for business professionals to make connections with others who share their interests and passions. They can directly introduce themselves to influential people without having to face a resistant staff or unnecessary obstacles. They can reach out to those who want to learn from them. They can even build networks of people who have the knowledge and/or power to help their businesses grow.
When selecting a professional networking Web site to join, look for one that promotes interactivity. In other words, make sure the networking site you join features a question-and-answer or forums section, and allows its members to comment on other members’ articles or blog posts. After all, the fundamental ingredient of networking is communication.
